Organised at Aravind Medical Research Foundation (AMRF), the four-day workshop conducted as part of October summit, provided theoretical and hands-on training in advanced confocal microscopy techniques. During the inaugural session, Prof. K. Dharmalingam, Director, Research, AMRF, highlighted the importance of microscopy in understanding protein localisation and compartmentalisation within cells.

Dr. Sebastian Raja, Application Specialist, Leica, delivered guest lectures on “Fundamentals of Light Microscopy and Recent Advances in Confocal Microscopy for Cell Biological Applications” and “Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging.” Dr. Manoj Manna, Advanced Application Manager – India and Southeast Asia, Leica Microsystems, presented a session on “Nanoscale Super-Resolution for Live Cells and Exosomes Using TauSTED Xtend.”

Dr. Gowri Priya Chidambaranathan, Scientist, AMRF, presented a session on “Identification and Quantification of Human Trabecular Meshwork Stem Cells Using Confocal Microscopy.” Dr. O.G. Ramprasad, Scientist, AMRF, spoke on “Lipid and Protein Dynamics in Live Cells Using Confocal Microscopy.” The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates by Prof. K. Dharmalingam.

The workshop brought together 16 participants, comprising 15 research scholars and one faculty member, from Madurai Kamaraj University, Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, L V Prasad Eye Institute, Vellore Institute of Technology, Bharathidasan University, Alagappa University, SRM University, Sankara Eye Hospital and AMRF.
